🌸 Blooming Where You Are

When I became a member of the LINKS Team at Camp Lejeune, NC, we had a motto, Bloom Where You’re Planted. (LINKS stands for Lifestyles, Insight, Networking, Knowledge, & Skills. It is a mentoring program across the Corps where spouses teach spouses. Think of it like Marine Corps 101 for families.) Â
It was a reminder that it didn’t matter how often you relocated, plant yourself in the new location and thrive.
I was fortunate that our family didn’t relocate often. During our years on Active Duty the Corps sent him where he was needed, we just didn’t always get to go with him. But many of my friends moved frequently, uprooting their children from school, leaving new friends, and finding new jobs or places to plug in when they arrived at the next duty station.Â
There could be a lot of pressure to stay cheerful during those challenging seasons. That motto could feel heavy and left no room for grief, frustration, or fatigue. Blooming felt like pretending. You know, fake it til you make it.Â
What I’ve learned since then is in order to bloom you gotta get your hands dirty. You grow through, it’s not always easy, it’s messy, humbling, and beautiful all at once. You can’t force a flower to grow. But we can create the conditions that help it flourish. We can choose hope while still honoring what’s hard. Two things can be true.
Flowers need soil, and sometimes that soil is made of loss, change, and uncertainty just as much as water and sunshine. Some bulbs are planted in the winter, preparing quietly for spring. While others need protecting in the cold. And some bloom more than once under the right conditions.Â
We aren’t much different. Some seasons are for blossoming and some are for rooting. We need both for growth. Â
When I designed this year’s Bloom with Possibility, Life Designer, I wanted it to reflect this kind of blooming, not a polished or fake version, but the honest one. The one that honors change, rest, and growth that comes when we give ourselves grace in every season.

Maybe this week or this month, you’re not blooming in full color, maybe you’re just taking root. That’s still growth. If you’re in a season of stretching or starting fresh, you aren’t alone. I created Bloom with Possibility to be your companion, a space to reflect, plan, and give yourself grace in every season. Where in your life are you being asked to bloom — even if it’s not where you planned to be?
Have the very best week! I look forward to connecting with you.
Much Love,
