Life First, Work Second...

Did you know that more than 40% of workers struggle to disconnect from work at home? You’re not alone if that’s you. In fact, I’ve had multiple clients in the last few weeks facing this exact challenge—how to turn work off when you walk through the door, close the laptop, or try to fall asleep at night.
One recent study found that 60% of U.S. workers report having no clear boundary between work and personal life. This isn’t just your struggle—it’s a cultural epidemic. And it’s taking a toll on mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life.
That’s where I come in. As a coach, I help clients uncover the root causes of their challenges, reframe limiting thoughts, and design practical strategies that fit the way they think and live. Because here’s the truth: tools only work if they work for you. My job is to help you find the ones that stick. Here are two examples of that with real life clients I am currently working with.
Client One- She processes best when she can write things down. Journaling helped her get to the root of the issue, which made it easier to put boundaries in place at work. For her, that meant turning off notifications after hours, focusing only on the tasks listed in her job description, and letting go of what co-workers were doing outside her supervisory role.
Client Two- He spent over 40 years prioritizing work over his personal life, and those patterns run deep. I often call them, default settings. We started with a big poster board and listed everything that mattered to him—including things that bring joy, this was missing in his life almost completely. Then we grouped them into categories, reprioritized them, and created a daily schedule. Since he travels often and works in different locations, having this visual in front of him keeps him from slipping into tunnel vision. When it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind.

At the end of the day, no job is worth your mental health, your physical health, or your family. You don’t have to keep running on empty, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Balance isn’t about doing less for the sake of it—it’s about doing what matters most without sacrificing your well-being in the process. Read that again, Balance isn’t about doing less for the sake of it—it’s about doing what matters most without sacrificing your well-being in the process. And, it's important to give your new routine time to work and then re-evaluate. It's okay to make adjustments to finetune what's working and what's not. With the right tools, support, and accountability, you can retrain your mind, reset your patterns, and reclaim the life you’ve been missing while the work never stopped.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to help. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation today, and let’s start building the balance you deserve. Have the best week and may your marbles be light. (reference to last weeks blog)
